Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 May 2026
This policy explains what information JD CODEC PTY LTD ("JD Codec", "we", "us") collects when you use our website and services, how we use it, and your rights. We are committed to handling your information responsibly and in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
01 · About us
JD CODEC PTY LTD (ACN 697 259 233) is an Australian company registered in New South Wales. We build developer tools that help AI agents complete browser-based tasks more efficiently.
Our registered office is Sydney, NSW, Australia.
02 · What we collect and why
Waitlist and account information
When you join our waitlist or create an account, we collect your email address and, if you provide it, your company name. We use this to communicate about early access, product updates, and service announcements. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.
Product usage
When you install and run the JD Codec connector, it generates an anonymous machine identifier stored locally on your device. This identifier helps maintain session continuity across uses and is not linked to your personal identity unless you log in with your email.
We collect anonymised usage metrics — such as the number of tasks processed and compression performance statistics. These metrics contain no personally identifiable information and no content from the web pages your agents visit.
Browser agent data — what we do and do not see
This is the most important section for users of our product.
The JD Codec connector runs entirely on your device. It processes browser state locally before anything is transmitted. Our Privacy Shield layer strips personally identifiable information from browser snapshots before they leave your machine. What we receive on our servers is compressed state data (perception deltas) — structured representations of what changed between agent steps, not raw page content, passwords, form data, or user-specific information from the pages your agents visit.
We do not receive the raw HTML, screenshots, or full DOM content of websites your agents access.
Analytics
Our website uses PostHog to collect anonymised analytics — page views, button interactions, and general usage patterns. This helps us understand how our site is used and improve it. PostHog is configured to minimise personal data collection. You can opt out of analytics by enabling the "Do Not Track" setting in your browser.
Server and infrastructure logs
Our hosting provider Cloudflare collects standard web server logs, including IP addresses, for security and abuse prevention. These are subject to Cloudflare's own data retention policies and are not used by us to identify individuals.
03 · How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- ·Operate and improve the JD Codec service
- ·Communicate about waitlist status, early access invitations, and service updates
- ·Diagnose technical issues and monitor service performance
- ·Comply with our legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it for advertising. We do not share it with third parties except as described in this policy.
04 · Third-party services
We use the following third-party services to operate our platform. Each has its own privacy policy.
Supabase
Our database provider, used to store waitlist registrations and authentication sessions. Supabase is operated by Supabase Inc. and stores data in AWS infrastructure. Data processing is covered by Supabase's Data Processing Agreement.
PostHog
Our product analytics provider, used to collect anonymised usage statistics on our website. PostHog is self-hostable and privacy-focused by design. You can opt out via your browser's Do Not Track setting.
Cloudflare
Our content delivery network and hosting provider for both the website (jdcodec.com) and the API service (api.jdcodec.com). Cloudflare processes network traffic and may collect IP addresses as part of standard CDN operation.
05 · Data retention
We retain different types of data for different periods:
- ·Email address: until you unsubscribe or request deletion
- ·Agent session data: active sessions expire after 30 minutes of inactivity or 4 hours absolute. Compressed state data is not retained beyond the session window.
- ·Usage metrics: retained in aggregated, anonymised form for service improvement
- ·Infrastructure logs: subject to Cloudflare's standard retention policy
06 · Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:
- ·Access the personal information we hold about you
- ·Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
- ·Request deletion of your personal information, subject to any legal retention obligations
- ·Opt out of marketing communications at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
07 · International transfers
JD Codec is an Australian company. Some of our service providers, including Supabase and PostHog, store and process data outside Australia. We take reasonable steps to ensure overseas recipients handle your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
08 · Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information from unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure. All data in transit is encrypted via TLS. Database access is restricted by row-level security policies.
No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. If you believe your information has been compromised, contact us immediately at [email protected].
09 · Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify registered users by email. Continued use of our services after any change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
